I apologize in advance if this is an annoying question. I just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. Am I supposed to eat my TDEE minus 20% plus eat back my exercise calories? Thanks so much.

No. Just subtract the 20%. Your TDEE includes your exercise. It's your burn for the whole 24 hours. So subtract the 20% and you've got your number. :-)0
