I'm getting a tattoo on Thursday at 3:00 on my back, but I have Zumba at 6:30 and really don't want to miss it. Does any one know if you should avoid sweat right after a tattoo?

I have only had one tattoo done so this is more of an opinion then anything else. I don't think sweat is going to hurt the tattoo, however it may not feel the greatest, also anything that rubs across it, like a shirt is going to cause some discomfort but it shouldn't be unbearable. You can always have the tattoo lightly covered with gauze to prevent some of the rubbing and sweat from hitting it.

It may not feel great, it will likely sting (sweat, open wound...) but you should be fine. Just be sure to clean it really well after with a very gentle soap and water.

yes you should. it wont cause any serious problems though if you do. it will burn and get red and itchy. at least from my own experience. mine was done on my ankle then went biking and hiking afterwards. being real itchy and not being able to itch it was the biggest thing.
now i have heard that with the cream or vasoline, it will help protect from sweat, but not sure. i was told after the fact.

oh, the cream, your tattoo guy can let you know what is the best to use.

Be careful. A friend of mine had a tattoo done on his arm the day before we went to a concert (a kinda rowdy one) and a part of it split a bit. It didn't get infected or anything and it could have had a lot to do with the location. Honestly I'd ask your tattoo artist!

It will sting like a mofo, but I don't think it will hurt anything. Can you call your tattoo artist and ask?

My husband and I have several..aside from it being tender..The hubs worked concrete construction at the time..The sweat may sting, but IMO the important part would be the normal cleaning that you need to do to it anyway..just keep it clean and put the lotion they tell you to put on it. On a side note..for future reference..our tattoo artist told us after it heals-if your in the sun alot to use chapstick on it to save from color fading.... Happy Tattooing!!
