    Every day in my case. I like to see my progress and have immediate feedback on what is (and is not) working - understanding that my weight varies randomly every day, but I can see trends after 2-3 days that I might miss otherwise.

    Plus weighing in EVERY DAY means I don't have a "weigh-in day" with all the stress that involves, and I don't have the "weigh-in day isn't for 5 days, I can have this extra muffin!" mentality that derails so many weight loss journeys. I'm in this for life. Every day.

    I also gained weigh from exercise but I think it was also because I wasn't watching my calorie intake not muscle so if you are paying attention to weight lifting and nutrition I wouldn't worry to much about the scale right now..

    Every day, and twice on Sundays. LOL

    I do it every morning, record it, and compare against the last two weeks worth of numbers. If you are a quick-fix/stress-a-lot type, I don't recommend this strategy :)

    I weigh myself once a month....I've been 155 since March 2011 and I wore a size 8 then..now I wear a size 5....throw that damn thing out! I weigh just to keep me under 160 and I'm fine....

    Same as above. If I gain, I workout more and eat better..........and if I lose I get so excited that I keep trying to get lower so either way I work out more and eat better.

    Daily. By weighing daily, you can more easily see the fluctuations in weight. (When you weigh weekly or monthly, those same fluctuations can still be there but the volatility won't be as obvious.) Once you accept that the scale can vary by several pounds for no apparent reason, you're in a better mental place to weather this seemingly random variance.

    Speaking of scale variance, does anyone have any idea why I often weigh about a half pound less *after* a shower than I do before? I figured it would be the other way around, but consistently, is not the case. (Or maybe the increased humidity affects the scale accuracy.) Not that it really matters, but it seemed counterintuitive to me.

    I weight myself everyday after I workout. Fluctuates more some days than others, as the guy a couple posts before me alloted to. I'm not overly concerned with my weight but it can be frustrating if you are.

Yes, it fluctuates, but at this point, I want to see every little bit -- if it goes down, then I feel like the effort was worth it; if it doesn't, then I look back and see where I can adjust to make it go down (it might be calories, or it might just be where I should have made a different/better choice, and know know for next time that yes, it DID matter) .

    Do what you're comfortable with. If you're not diggin the every week thing, try every two weeks. If you don't like that, try once a month. Also take your measurements. Just because the number isn't going down doesn't mean you aren't losing inches. Plus you know you're gaining muscle. Try to remember when you started and how difficult thngs were and how many reps etc you could do. Now look at your progress and see how you've improved. Keep up the hard work! It is paying off regardless of what the number shows :)

    I weigh daily, but I only record gains if they stay for more than 3-4 days in a row. Some may be discouraged by weighing too often, I think it's kind of a game. Some days I might hit the scale 2-3 times... interesting to see the fluctuations after meals or working out.

    I'm a bigger guy, and can drift 3-5 lbs / day depending...


    If you're weight lifting, seeing the scale not move might actually be a good sign.... pull out the tape measure instead.. measure your waist or hips and then compare in two weeks.. If your working out that heavy and not moving the scale, I bet the tape is moving instead!

    I do the same, I weigh a couple times everyday, it gives me a lot of motivation to lose by Friday, which is when I record my weigh ins. It totally is a kind of sick game though, it can be disheartening sometimes but it gets my butt moving.

    I weight myself every morning before I eat/drink anything. I just want to keep it a routine. It also give me some feedback on my bad eating habit (usually over the weekends).

    I weigh myself about 2-3 times a week but only log it once a week. I've tried staying away from the scale and the most I've managed is a couple of weeks. If I could stay away from it for 3-4 weeks at a time, I would! It's just too tempting for me.

    I know people say to weigh yourself every week, but I'm finding that this practice discourages me a lot. Has anyone tried weighing themselves just once a month instead? I'll tell you why I ask.

    I've been lifting weights. It's actually the first time I've tried this when I'm trying to lose. I would never in a million years have guessed it would make such a big difference to my body shape, but it has. The problem is that the scale is now being uncooperative.

    I am working VERY hard at losing weight. I control my cravings, I eat lean protein and plenty of fruits and veggies. And it is SO discouraging to do all of that work and then see the scale at the EXACT same weight 2 weeks in a row.

    I'm wondering if I do it once a month and see an actual difference if it would help. What does everyone think?

    I used to weigh in once a month, and that worked for me. I didn't feel tied down to a scale, and it was great. And since I was waiting like 4-5 weeks in between weigh-ins, the chances of seeing a huge change were greater than just weekly weigh-ins.

    I personally weigh myself every Sunday now. That is only because I also measure inches each week and calculate body fat %. I need that weight to determine how many pounds are fat and how many is lean tissue. I personally use Tom Venuto's feedback loop that he talks about in BFFM, and he recommends the weekly thing when change in body composition (as opposed to weight loss on the scale) is your goal.

    Either way works great, depending on your personal situation. If you feel discouraged weighing in weekly, then by all means go longer. No need to make yourself even more stressed out about things than you need to be!

    once every 2 or 3 weeks...I know I am exercising a lot and eating less so it'll work out fine....scales are too co dependent for me...not my kind of relationship ;-)
