Hey,
so I signed up at Planet Fitness today for added motivation and a place to work out ( The cute girl behind the counter had NOTHJNG to do with it I swear ;-) ) Anyway, I plan on going tomorrow morning but I have no idea what I should start with and what I should or shouldn't do on my first day at the gym. I have always been very athletic but I'm clearly out of shape. I despise running and I get winded easily. Also how long should I work out for? These are pretty basic questions but I appreciate any and all responses. Thanks!

When I did go to the gym I started with walking/ running to get myself warmed up. I asked questions about the machines I wasn't sure of and tried everything out.
However, you may want to start with a simple warm up, then figure out if you want to do upper/lower/full body workouts. Rotating the workout throughout the week to prevent some soreness or over use of the muscles. Start with a small workout, like 30 minutes and work your way up from there if you want. Get to know what your body can handle before you really dive in.0 -
Hi Nicky, I also signed up at Planet Fitness when I started my journey. I figured $10 a month can't be beat! Anyway, started out just walking on the treadmill and hated it, moved onto the elliptical and am finally able to do an hour on it, but got bored, so I moved onto the weight, which is what I like best!
Just try some things out and see how you do/like them. If they don't work move onto something else.0 -
I think you should define your goals first. That always helps determine what you should be doing.0
