Would like feedback on a cookbook...

I would like some feedback from you the dedicated members of MFP who are on a mission to achieve life goals.

Do you struggle when you go on the road or when you go out to dinner in your own hometown? Do you wish you could have all those wonderful dishes that are prepared so deliciously in the restaurants but way more healthy? And in your very home?

If there was a cookbook that took hometown favorites from across America from corner to corner and made those same dishes healthy and taste just as good as the unhealthy versions, would you buy that cookbook?

I'm not sure I get what you are pitching...

Are you talking about a recipe book for me to prepare meals at home, or a recipe book that you give to the restaurants you visit and say "please cook my meal like this" or something else?

So say your from Louisiana and some of our favorite meals are jambalaya or gumbo. Most of the time u get it at a restaurant and it is horribly unhealthy. Well this cook book would show you how to make the same quality dish at a fraction of the unhealthy nutrition. Basically local favorites from all over, but made into healthy versions to be cooked at home. But combined into one cookbook do you can try local favorites from all over without leaving your home.

Threw me a little, I thought you were talking about a way of getting healthier foods WHILST travelling (which is something that I am interested in) but you're talking about a home cook book, which is not something I feel I need. That is not to say there isn't a market for it though.

I love American local dishes, they are so different to the view most of the UK gets of US cuisine, so I'd definitely go for it. It would help satisfy the cravings I get watching Man vs Food

I'd agree that Man vs. Food shows a wide variety of local favorites which scaled down versions could be achieved. And I also agree after having been to the UK that a lot of US cuisine is vastly different. Some better and some for the worse

Lots of good recipes in here. Why don't we create a cookbook?

I already have that book. It's called the internet.

Probably not. I like experimenting with cooking and can replicate a recipe I have had in a restaurant. It many not always be as healthy as I would have liked, but sodium is always cut down tremendously.

I wouldn't, but I mostly go to a restaurant for the activity of going out (and having someone else clean up after dinner) rather than the food. However, I have no problem asking for dishes to be modified to fit my dietary needs. (I leave big tips if the server is cool about it.)
