*** I NEED MOTIVATORS***

I have been on MFP for ant two months and I am having a huge problem being consistent. I will eat right and work out for about a week or two and then fall off the wagon for a week. Its like I'm losing and gaining the same pounds over and over. I need some friends that are going to push me and be hard on me so that I can stay focused... I am currently at 303 I got down as low as 294... it frustrates me to even write that!... any and all friends are welcomed... lets push each other to get the weight off!!!!

I feel your pain...as you can tell by the username consistency is also one of my problems. After a few wks I end up losing it for a wk so i'm constantly up and down but as long as we don't give up completely it's not a problem. Feel free to add me

    Hi there!

First, I want make it clear that I am not a nutritionist or professional of any kind. I am a regular person like you who was diagnosed with CLL in 2009, so I have had to educate myself about food choices and food additives to avoid aggravating my condition. With that said....

The best way to stop or even prevent yo-yo dieting is to remember that the changes you make in eating habits and dietary intake have to become a PERMANENT lifestyle change. Otherwise, when you return to 'normal' habits, the weight will all come back. Why? because it was those same 'normal' habits you had that put the weight on in the first place. Does this mean that you can never have ice cream or cake again? NO! It means that when you have reached your goal, you have to remain moderate about treats and remain aware of how many calories you take in. Just because you reached your goal doesn't mean you are done eating healthy. :)

The best way to stick with a healthy eating plan is what you need to seek. If the problem is that you find it too hard to keep up with logging and reviewing your progress, then this site is a good place to fix that, because it is so easy.

If the problem is that you miss your favorite foods too much, then allow yourself to have them, in small, small portions so you get some satisfaction from them but do not make a meal out of a treat. For example, if you really like pasta, don't cut it out of your diet completely, but have a little pasta on the side instead of as the entree.

If you just don't feel you are getting enough food and you still feel hungry, take a look at how much dietary (also called soluble) fiber is in your eating plan. Most often (for me, anyways) the reason my body says I am still hungry is because there isn't enough fiber in my food to trigger that 'i'm done' feeling in your tummy.

The last thing I can suggest is, since the changes need to be permanent, try changing two small things at a time instead of 'jumping in with both feet and finding yourself in over your head. Wade in a little at a time and you won't find yourself caught treading water and feeling overwhelmed.

I hope these suggestions help you in some small way. :)
