Question for those who LIFT or do resistance training.

OK. so I have started my workout using my Bowflex. It has been only 4 days. My weight has gone up!! My question is this.....do the muscles hold water when you do this type of training? I took my measurements, and they have gone down, so I feel that I am still moving in the right direction. I know that you can weigh more and be fitter and toned more. It just freaks me out to see the number on the scale keep going up.

yes, i know its only been 4 days....so is that why i am retaining water? will that eventually stop happening. I know that i have not made any major muscle in this time.0
