Newbie here: Low Self Esteem & need motivation

Hi my name is Julie and I'm 35, married with 3 children, living in SW Va. I weigh 177 pounds down 2 since I've started focusing on what I eat & try to be more active. I know that 177 pounds may not seem like a lot, however I have a muffin top as I called it and a belly I try to suck in most of the time. I'm not necessarily looking at how many pounds I loose just looking to get rid of the muffin top & belly.
I have a condition in my right leg called lymphadema & I feel that the weight that I'm carrying on my body is contributing to my legs size too. So I'm trying to get everything under control because I really have never had good self asteem about myself, have always thought that my sisters were always prettier than me & they definately are alot skinnier than me.
My goal out of this is to be able to complete some type of marathon with my 2 sisters, who have already completed 3 or 4 I believe. I would love to meet some friends on here who would help keep me accountable.

Hello Julie,
I am a newbie myself, just recently signed up today. I find myself in the same position, lacking motivation. I understand I need to lose the weight to improve my well-being as I have been on medication for years now for high cholesterol. As much as I try to use this for motivation to jump on the treadmill and do something about it, I find it that I cannot motivate myself on my own especially when I feel the slightest bit tired from work.
I am currently trying to change my mentality of putting things off. I excuse myself and hold things off and say 'I'll do it tomorrow' or 'tomorrow I'll just work extra hard' or 'I'll do it after I have a nap' but it never happens. I'm trying to focus on the possibility of tomorrow not arriving and try to make most of my day.
Currently, due to an acquired injury, my low spine curves in, and I have a hip tilt, and due to my weight, this creates onto my left leg and causes the muscles to tense and pull. When I started to run, the muscles pulled onto my knee cap causing pain, I pushed through and my foot became numb. It can to a point where I was simply running with a sleeping leg. I have started to have a thorough stretch before runs, and depending on the run itself, if it is going to be a hard work out, I will sometimes apply some deep heat cream before the work out. This could possibly help in your case. I tend to not rely on it so much, though when necessary, I'll apply it.
Cheers
