Need Some Help With BMR/Daily Goals

I'm sure there are posts about this, so I'm sorry, but if anyone could offer some insight/advice on this I'd appreciate it.

I am confused as to what to believe as far as calorie goals. On here of course, the goal is 1200 calories to achieve a 2lb/week weight loss. My BMR on here is 1664. I tried fitday, on there my calorie goal is 1517. On fat2fitradio.com, my BMR is 1711 and the calorie goal in order to reach my goal weight is 1742.

So between these three sites my calorie goals (if I go by BMR on here) is anywhere from 1517 to 1742.

What do I believe? Should I set my calorie goals to the highest one given and then try to stick within the 1517 to 1742?

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you adjust?

Thanks in advance :-) And anyone can feel free to add me as a friend as I always can use some additional support.

I'm new to this myself, but the calorie goal I set mine to was according to the fat2fitradio.com. I try to eat at least my BMR and aim for my TDEE daily.
You might want to check out the group "Eat More to Weigh Less," there are some very informative ppl over there who have been incredibly supportive with setting goals and whatnot.

I hope this helped at least a bit. :)

I would suggest the higher amount and adjust from there. Read here: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/adjusting-the-diet.html

Read the links, and the thread, and the numbers at the bottom of the fat2fit. Eat the value associated with your activity level. This value is your TDEE minus a cut.

I've been wondering the same thing. I feel like 1200 is so low.

It's all an aproximation anyway based on an estimate of how many calories you use in a day. So I would go with the amount set by whatever tool you think you'll use the most and adjust from there. If you're not happy one way or the other, you can always change, but it might be easier to adjust the settings on your tool (ie- activity level). MFP has four settings to choose from on the diet profile and I doubt that many people land exactly on one of those descriptions. In fact, knowing human psychology, I'm guessing that more than a few overestimate their activity level.

I found the same thing yesterday. I have MFP set for 1lb/week and my caloric intake should be 1600. I can NEVER obtain that #. I've cleaned up by diet 100% and still cannot even come close to that # without putting something else through the roof (or giving up taste). My average caloric intake is 1200 which some say is too low but I'm losing 2lbs a week so I'm sticking with what works. I couldn't even imagine having to try to eat 1800 calories which the Livestrong.com site wanted me to eat!!!!
