water...detoxifying???

Totally don't mean for this to sound stupid, but I don't know how else to put it.
The last couple of days i've been drinking my 8 glasses of water, this is very new for me, normally i'd have a coffee in the morning and sip on maybe ONE bottle of water for the entire day. By the end of the first day I found I was quite tired, and yesterday (day 2) I found I woke up feeling very fatigued and kind of...flu like almost. Sometimes I feel this way after a massage and have been told by several people that it's my body flushing toxins, could this be what i'm experiencing with the new intake of water? I assume if I keep up my water it will go away, just wondered if that's what it was or if anyone else experienced it? (To be clear, my topic does not mean i'm only drinking water, I am eating 1700 calories as well!)
Thanks for any insight, I did try googling but not a ton of help.

I doubt very much that the fatigue is related to increased water consumption. More likely that you're just coincidentally coming down with a virus or something.0

I don't think the water is causing the flu-like symptoms you're experiencing. Being properly hydrated should HELP with the energy levels... it shouldn't make you feel more drained.
As for 'flushing toxins'... due to the way your kidneys filter the blood and excrete waste, the extra water CAN help excrete sodium... and probably some 'waste' too. So.... there's some truth there. However, I really don't like the term 'flushing toxins', because it brings up some pretty unique myths... like the idea that you can 'flush out' fat (you can't).0 -
blahhh I doubted it but the timing was such a coincidence, it's so similar to how I feel after a massage that I hoped because I didn't want to think I might be fighting something off lol, thanks0

Might be good to first consider normal causes for lowered energy levels - low iron, low potassium... The increased water consumption will also increase urination which in turn can reduce both sodium and potassium.0

Thank you!
Should be good but if it continues i'll go get that all checked out0 -
It could also be because of the absense of what you use to drink (coffee, milk, tea, juice) besides water. I know a lot of people who end up sick, low energy, or with headaches if they stop drinking coffee, soda/pop, or juice. This was partically because their bodies had become addicted to the substance and they were basically going through withdraw symptoms.0

This is what I was thinking too. Did you replace your caffinated drinks with the water? I did that and felt like crap for 3 days but after that, I felt amazing!0 -

I only drink decaf coffee now, so I still had one of those in the morning, but water the rest of the day. I'm feeling a bit better today so hopefully it was just a weird coincidence.0 -
Its the cutting out of caffeine. When I started eating better and working out a few weeks ago I cut all caffeine items like Soda.
That first week I felt tired and had headaches, it SUCKED! but just push through it and I promise in a week or two you will start to feel much much better! Good luck!0 -

Decaf has 10-20% the caffeine in a normal cup of coffee depending on how it's made, so it's not completely caffeine free - although many ads & places may state otherwise. I believe there is one decaf coffee type that has actually no caffeine but I don't remember which one that was...0
