SBF2: Reboot Boogaloo! June 28

Morning, pebbs!
Just a quick one before I leave for my last church job of the season. I'm so glad of this, because the sanctuary is not air conditioned and I roast in my choir robe. It's like Bikram choir. Ugh.
Then, it's a few errands, followed by Bikram at 4 today.
Doing pretty well with the eating often. Interestingly, I find I'm always hungry when it's time to eat. Trying to get to 1400 net calories shouldn't be so hard. . .but add in exercise and I'm usually closer to 2000 that I have to eat. I'm determined to move something, and I think I may have been in starvation mode for a while. (I looked at a log from this same time last year, and I was about 800-900 net. Yikes! Naughty!) I'm trying to just think that this extra gain is my body getting excited because I'm actually feeding it again, and it will start to go away.
Keep the faith boogaloo!:flowerforyou:
Take care, sweet pebbles.

Hi There!
It's interesting to look back at eating history and see if there are patterns.
I'm on set today here in Detroit, getting ready to start shooting tomorrow. Looks like there are healthy(ish) versions from the on-set catering and the other good news is that the hotel gym is AMAZING! Two of the guys I'm working with have lost a lot of weight since we last worked together and they looks GREAT. I have to admit that I'm jealous and wish that that was me that was wow-ing everyone on set.
But I"m going to use it as inspiration, and am setting up a plan for regular workouts with them.
As I write this, an assistant just came by with a HUGE tray of cookies and brownies!! The fact that I was writing this was good incentive to turn him down!!!!

WL, I'm sure you do WOW a lot more people than you know. I'm glad you have some work out buddies there to help keep you motivated.
V, stay cool today. We actually have a cool front coming through tonight or tomorrow...only suppose to get up to 93*! I might need a jacket. Actually DH and I have not felt well today (and I guess Alex doesn't either since he threw a fit and didn't even want to eat lunch), and a friend of mine has also not felt well. It's all sinuses, which I am blaming on the upcoming weather change. I've been feeling sick for a few days now.
I think I know what I need to do, but I do not want to do it. I think I need to go on a toxic cleansing thing. I am developing more symptoms of yeast overgrowth in my body. I know what I NEED to do (well, as soon as I find the book) but I really really do not want to do it. I know I will feel so much better and I will have a "clean slate" but I do not want to do it. Did I mention that I really do not want to do this? Why not? Because I love food too much! I love breads, and sweets and some times even fruits! Some say people need to be on this diet for 3 months. I've got a book on toxic relief that takes about a month I think. My mom did it about a year ago or so and said she felt much better. Other than really not wanting to do it, it can also be costly. I'm going to have to do more research before I say, yes, to this. I am really feeling the need to clean up my eating. I just don't want to. I think my body is telling me I have to do something.
This morning I had about 30 minutes to get ready for church, which is not easy. I got so many compliments on how beautiful I looked! How does that happen? I work on myself for two hours and think I look pretty good and no one says anything. I spend 30 minutes on myself, walk out of the house doubting every bit of my appearance, and five people tell me I look great! I don't get it! But I will take it!
It's like Mary said to me awhile back: the elimination diet seemed to be working for me. If I can just cut out the junk, I'd be okay. There's my novel for the day.
Cutting the junk boogaloo!

Oh MM,
I feel your pain. I actually went into mourning for those foods. (I practically died when I first started eating clean again every time I passed the bakery in my neighborhood.) But, after the withdrawal, I feel sooooooooooo much better now. You have to plan ahead more, and you'll probably be a cranky lady for a week or two, but you can do it.
What if you tried cutting out one thing at a time? That's what I did this latest time. I cut out sugar, then wheat, etc. . .Maybe if you didn't try to just be "all or nothing" about it, it would feel more gentle. I'm currently PMSing and haven't even had a craving. . .impossible to believe, but true.
You can do it, but you have to get to the place where you can commit to it. That's the hardest part. We're here for you.:flowerforyou:0 -
Thanks V. You're so sweet. And a big help. I'll have to think about doing one thing at a time. I think I will have to go cold turkey but maybe not...with some really good planning. It just dawned on me that I will be going to the women's retreat at the end of July, and I will have to pretty much eat what is in front of me. It's not junk food...well at least most of it is okay. Hmmm. Maybe I can try to cut wheat. Do you not eat wheat at all now? Do you have it once in awhile or will that cause you to want it again? The thing is that I can not imagine my life without eating a burger and fries when we go out. I do not like to get salads when we go out to eat, so I don't know how that's going to work. But I will give it a try.
I can try to work on cutting out some foods slowly this month and plan meals and stuff for next month. I really have felt that I need to change my eating. Partly because of my age. I'm not old but I am at a point that I think it's going to get harder and harder to eat better and also to lose weight if I don't change it now. Plus I don't want my kids to eat like I do.
I understand feeling like you are going to die and going into mourning. When I fasted sweets for a month, I thought I was going to "die" but I didn't, and I didn't crave them. Even during TOM. The key is to find balance. To allow myself to get a burger once in awhile, but not every week. Eat a burger (or whatever) and the next day get back on track again.
I'm going to keep thinking about this and figure out what I can do now to make a change. I know I can do it. I just hope I can stick with it. Thanks for the encouragement, Vivia. If I can really get the clean eating down I think I may be able to forgo counting cals.

Hi pebbles! MM, I agree with V - plan ahead. Maybe try and make rules for yourself so that you don't feel like you're denying yourself constantly - instead, it's just not food anymore.
I went wine tasting with my DH and friend today, which was fun. Nothing in the way of exercise, though. And eating/drinking, really, not too bad.
Have a nice evening! :flowerforyou:0 -
MM,
I try to have wheat very, very rarely. And, when I have it, I know that it's going to trigger me to want more. . .so I kind of weigh the "do I want this bad enough for tomorrow to be a struggle?" question. And, sometimes, I confess. . .I do want the whole wheat pizza or slice of french bread that came with my soup bad enough. But, I find more often lately that I don't. . .since it seems to be an intolerance and not a true allergy or celiac, I find that every once in a very rare while doesn't hurt me. But, it does make it harder to resist having more.
Here's a link to a blog post that for me was very convincing re: the possibility that you can be actually addicted to wheat.

It's from an MD/cardiac doctor. Pretty cool blog in general. I found it when I was freaking out when I found out my cholesterol was high. (In a month I have to get it checked again, and I'm curious if the diet changes have lowered it at all. . .)0 -
Thanks ladies. I'll plan ahead next week to eliminate what I can when I go to the store again. I just feel like I need to get some control over this. Whatever this really is.

I know I'm coming VERY late to the party but...why is wheat bad? Is it only bad for certain people, and you gave it up because of an intolerance, or do you believe that everyone should cut it out of their diets? just curious, and I apologize if you covered this oh, a year ago!0 -
I'm pretty sure wheat is bad for me. Some say it's bad, period. . .but I don't know if I'm that way yet. The blog link I posted above has some very strong opinions on the matter, and for me they're pretty convincing. I've more or less decided that I'm addicted to it, so I try to avoid it. I used to think that sugar was a trigger for me, but now I find I can have something with sugar in it (say gelato) and be satisfied with a serving. But, if I have cake, cookies, pie any wheat-y stuff, it "tastes like more" as my family used to say. . .0
