Clean eating

Just wondering how to get started, I would like to cut out the final processed junk in my diet and really start feeding myself and my family as clean as possible. I love fresh produce (shop at a farmers market for the summer months), fish, chicken, ground beef, and cooking with spices. Any good websites with cheap and easy recipes?

I was thinking about just doing freezer meals lots of veggies and a meat cut up and froze and then just throwing them into the crock pot when ready to cook. Then I have the issue with flavor, can you marinate or is that defeating the purpose?

Depends what you are marinating the veggies in... watch out for pre-bottled sauces - they can have a lot of sugar or sodium.

I recommend checking out Paleo eating - tons of good recipes!

    Examples:
    - Everyday Paleo
    - Civilized Caveman
    - Dessert Stalker
    - PaleOMG

Those are blogs I visit daily for ideas. you can use speghetti squash instead of noodles. Last night I made lasgna with sliced zucinni instead of lasgna noodles.

Basically eat no bread products, rice, crackers. It's all junk anyway. There are a couple of groups here that are for ppl who eat clean.

    search for primal/paleo stuff.

I like skinny taste.com recipes. We eat pretty clean and it has taken 7 months for us (family of 6) to transition from all processed to mostly fresh foods. We planted a garden (we live in a subdivision) and eat out of our garden, shop for supplemental produce at Aldi and get our meats at Tom Thumb. We grill mostly, everything is better grilled...that is my motto!

Also, I have learned that my kids like lots of fruit and veges that I don't care for. I have started buying these things for them and stopped assuming they only like what I like. I also started making homemade chips for their lunches and adding fruit and 35 cal bread for their sandwiches instead of full cal bread and crap like honey buns. It has really helped !

I'm looking to get away from pre bottled/packaged anything. I will check these sites out and see about clean eating groups on here.

Thanks skinny_jeans! Family of 5 here, I have looked at skinnytaste.com and will have to look again, I enjoy veggies more then anything, and totally agree grilled is best, we grill all year round even when there is snow on the ground.

I think the hardest for me will be cutting out breads, rice, and pasta as I love these foods!

I would also recommend Paleo. I have been paleo since january and love it. The websites listed above are amazing. I use them all the time. I have a family of 7 to feed 5 kids. All the kids don't mind the paleo lifestyle either although they still get cereal and pop tarts. The paleo diet is al about cuting out processed food and refined sugars. Staying true to are primal roots. Lean meat fresh veggies and fruit. Good luck with finding the plan that works for you and your family :)
