Would you like opinions from educated people who chose not to detox or cleanse for valid reasons, or would you just like to hear from people who have done it?0

Your body is constantly doing a detox cleanse by itself!0

Hopefully she will get educated opinions. Forget about it.0

Just so happen a friend just did a full body "detox", one with cayenne and honey..she lost 12lbs over 10 days...then promply gained 15 after stopping it a month ago and it now constantly tired and cold. Her metabolism is shot for the forseeable future.0

What exactly are you hoping to accomplish with the clense? Weight loss, more energy, flushing toxins?0 -

Your body is capable of detoxing (liver & kidneys) and cleansing all by itself.
Eat lots fruits & veg, drink plenty of water and avoid processed foods.
Most of the cleanse/detox programs/products offer you no real benefits whatsoever and some of them are downright unhealthy.I've had some life-changing spine-tingling full-body bowel movements. Good stuff.
Dried apricots??  :laugh:0 -
No need to go to extreme measures to 'detox' your body. Your kidney and liver does that for you. Just eat healthy and as clean as possible, drink lot's of water, take your vitamins, exercise...and nature will take it course!0

OP, I don't have any experience with a detox or a cleanse but I don't see an issue with it if you eat clean, stick as close as you can to your micro and calorie requirements. You can still get good calorie intake if you juice fruits and veggies into a concentrated drink. Avocado is a good source of fats and nuts and seeds can add protien. Be aware that you may feel thirsty which is good because we always need hydration. Maybe throw a protien shake into the mix to help reach your goals. You don't have to have a liquid diet to detox. Eating lots of fruit, veggies, steamed fish will still help you detox but will make you feel more satisfied.
If the detox you are trying is more of a water with lemon and cayenne pepper kind I would be concerned about the affect it would have on your body with no calories and little nutritional value.
You may have more success following a raw food diet for a few weeks if you want a cleaner system.0 -

Don't take our word for it, though...
"The best way to 'detox' the body is simply to let your body do its job. Unless you have a medical problem, your body takes care of itself quite nicely, experts say.
"The liver and kidneys are nature's best-kept secret, because they are the weapons to eliminate toxins from your body," says Gerbstadt. "If you are concerned about certain substances in your diet, it is easier and safer to simply eliminate [those substances] rather than engage in unhealthy detox plans."

According to Chau Che MD, with New York University:
"Despite evidence to the contrary, the idea that colon cleansing is therapeutic by removing impurities, lives on. However, these claims largely fail to consider normal physiology. The digestive tract has inherent properties that work to clean our colon. After food ingestion, the small intestine absorbs nutrients and contracts to move indigestible residue into the colon. The colon continues the digestive process by absorbing and secreting electrolytes and fluids while its resident bacteria ferments the undigested food products. These are just some of the many mechanisms in which the digestive tract works in order to ensure that the colon does not become encrusted with fecal matter as some products claim. The black, rubbery material passed on a colon cleanse is actually a byproduct from the supplements and fiber in the colon cleansing product as opposed to old fecal material, in which consumers are led to believe."
