I am new to this place and the reason I decided to come here is not because I have a lot of trouble with weight. I recently quit smoking and boy did I eat to stop myself from putting a cigarette in my mouth. Well now I am done with wanting to eat and I don't want to smoke, the problem I am having now is getting rid of the 40 + pounds I put on when I was getting past the cravings. I thought maybe if I had a place to go to keep track of what I was eating, and people who were there for the same reason as me, to lose weight I might be able to get it off. I have never been this heavy and I really don't feel like myself anymore, I feel like me in some one else's body. If anyone has quit smoking and gone through this I would be more then happy to hear some tips to getting back to me. Thanks for listening and good luck to all of you.

Hi! Welcome to MFP! I too quit smoking and gained over 50 pounds on top of my already over-weight body. I'm here to try to lose all this extra weight too. I'm basically just counting calories and so far its been working. My husband is over weight too, so we're both dieting or should I say, changing the way we eat. Its really tough at this stage of life, but we both feel that if we don't do it now, we sure won't get to enjoy our retirement!
So, good luck to you in your quest! This is a great aid in losing weight and the community is great!
God Bless

Boy do I know that experience. I quit smoking in the 70's because I'd gotten up to 3 packs a day by the time I left Vietnam. I put on the weight big time back then and took up running to both clear my lungs out and to burn off the excess weight. What a struggle all of that was!
Welcome to MFP I think you'll find it will help a lot.0
