Supermoon Saturday: Biggest moon of the year

Saturday (May 5) at 11:35 p.m. EDT. , though the moon may still appear full to skywatchers on the day before and after the actual event..

So walk out and check it out. Should be pretty spectacular. If you are near some falls, you can check and see if you get a "moonbow". Think rainbow at dusk. (Unfortunately it will make it hard to see the meteor shower from Halley's comet)

Just an FYI, if you have a telescope (or the kids have a cheapo one) or high power binoculars (or a mono - no descrimination here), the Moon arrives at first quarter phase on Friday, Jan. 6 and you should be able to view the mountains and craters pretty awesomely that night.
