I'm at uni, and the only place for myself and my flat mates to socialise in our halls is the kitchen - i know, possibly the worst place to be for someone trying to lose weight! I find myself leaving them just because the temptation to eat is so great, and before i started healthy eating and weight loss I constantly grazed because it is where I spend most of my time. to make things worse, my bedroom is right next to the kitchen! argh!
I have had about 8 pints of water this evening alone just trying to avoid snacking :(

Can you stock up your kitchen with low-cal snacks? That way you can be snacking with everyone else yet still stay within your calories. Things like cut-up veggies with salsa or low-fat yogurt for a dip, fruit, Laughing Cow cheese on Wasa Crispbread, low cal bread for making toast with sugar-free marmalade, sliced tomatoes with Mrs. Dash, air-popped popcorn, things like that.

I am a big snacker myself and I have found that I get along best by snacking on low-cal stuff rather than trying to not snack at all.

^^^ What she said. Don't fight snacking, make snacking work for you by snacking on healthier alternatives.
