What's your opinion on smileys?

I use them a lot when I'm being light-hearted and want it to be clear. Only the basics, though - I think the bravest I've been is to use the 'flower for you' one once. Some I've just never found an occasion for.
These two are my favourites:

They're definitely 'me'. Apparently, people love my 'deadpan humour',0 -
I love smileys! I use them whenever possible.
My favorites are the fox ones they have for msn...0 -
i wish there were some more interesting ones on here - like a thumbs up guy - or a smack your head against a wall guy - haha - i think the only one i've used is the flowerforyou cutie.
oh - a cheerleader one would be great too!!0 -
Smileys help transfer your feelings. Since you can't really read someones face in a text message it's nice to throw an "emotion" in there to set the air of the conversation.0

It helps during texting when there's nothing to talk about so all you send back and forth is (: They are helpful...0

I use smileys as punctuations most of the time (<- Like that ). Text smileys only though, no fancy gifs.0
