Revving up to exercise

What do you do to either get in the mood to exercise? Do you take anything (special foods or drinks)? Do you think certain thoughts? I am struggling a bit right now with my exercise, probably because I'm putting it off until later in the day due to work and my son's feeding schedule. I don't really want to take any chemicals or anything harmful, but I wouldn't mind something that would give me a bit of energy (safe for breastfeeding though).

Usually you just have to start and then you get into it!
As you exercise more you will want to exercise more and wont be able to go with out it!
I know from past experience not recent experience I'm still in the "Its to hard stage!" lol:laugh:
So just get out there, you will feel heaps better when it's done!:happy:0 -
Whenever I'm not feeling motivated, I try to think of how good I feel when I've finished a good workout and weigh that against how I feel on the days that I put it off. That usually helps me work up the motivation. I almost skipped my workout yesterday because I just didn't feel like it, but I told myself to do it and felt great afterward. For me, I feel a sense of accomplishment

I listen to movin' music. This is great, especially if baby likes to dance. My daughter has loved to dance and listen to music since she was born.
Listen to anything that can get you up off your seat. Once it becomes more routine you just don't think about it.0 -
I use horrible "fat pictures" of myself, along with the purple string bikini I'd like to wear this summer. Those really keep me motivated! Sometimes, if I've been slacking, I'll print my exercise report and hang it somewhere I can't ignore it.0

I have also printed out my workout schedule. Then it haunts you if you don't put a checkmark next to it. It is a good motivator to start and once you start you might find you are fine.0 -
I'm usually thinking...man, I really want that pizza bun or sandwich or bowl of frozen yogurt...guess I gotta workout.

Two things
A) think about all the extra calories I get to eat if I exercise (BIGTIME motivator)put on my workout clothes as soon as possible so I don't have an excuse. I usually work out first thing upon getting up in the morning, but if I have to exercise after work, I'll even change into my workout clothes before I leave work so I have no excuse when I get home.
Good luck!0 -
I have two tricks that I do. First, I will read a Women's workout magazine. Whether it's Health, Women's Fitness, Runner's World, Self, etc. Just a few articles in normally gives me the motivation to work out. Maybe it's the positive words, the at home workouts, or the smiling women, it just gets me going.
Second, I think ok. I am going to put on my workout stuff and go to the gym. If when I get there, I really do not want to workout then I can go home. That way I have an escape clause for my unmotivated butt but 99 percent of the time I workout and am happy I went.0 -
Thanks, everyone! I think I'm okay now.0
