1/4 CUP of Stevia? Holy WOWZERS! That would be unedible. Is that pure Stevia or a cut version like Truvia? If it's a cut version then I can see it but pure, true Stevia...I'm having a hard time believing you'd use 1/4 cup.

Stevia has not been approved by the FDA; questions about safety with use in foods. Check it out on the internet.

Recipe looks great, but can you use Equal or Splenda? Why does it need Stevia?

Stevia is far superior to any other alternative sweetener out there. It's natural and doesn't have chemicals. It's been used in other countries for a very, very long time. The research done and benefits of using stevia compared to others is outstanding; do a bit more research on the internet too (look for the medical studies as well, not just media articles). It also has many benefits that chemical sweeteners like Equal, Sweet N Low, and Splenda can't provide. And, the FDA has "approved" it to a degree; they haven't given it their "official" approval yet but they have issued letters of non-objection for companies to use it in foods and beverages so...basically they've approved it. But, even that aside, I don't trust the FDA to make choices for me or approve anything - they've gone from their original intent of consumer protection to profit focus; IMHO.
