That dreaded up and down...

Finally back in the gym again after 8 months or so due to a complete lack of motivation / determination / whatever you'd like to call it.
About me, well, to start I'm from Southern California where I was born and raised. Always loved the outdoors, camping, and anything of that good wholesome nature type stuff. Hanging out with friends, having a good ol' time and being young and eating without consequences I slowly ballooned up to 315lbs at the age of 25. Now at 6'2" with a naturally large frame to begin with, the slow climb in lbs over the years wasn't noticeable to me or my friends. For me realizing that I was weighing in at 315lbs was it, I was done. The weight was preventing me from achieving the goals in life that I had set for myself and I had allowed it to happen for far to long.
So began the road to recovery so to speak, working out 3x a week I dropped 36lbs in just over three months (insert that *Results Not Typical disclaimer here). Over the next six months, I dropped 35 more. Life was good, I had energy, confidence, and a new sense of happiness that I hadn't had before in my life.
I ended up moving to Northern California to peruse my schooling in criminal justice for a career in law enforcement. During that time I suffered a severe back sprain followed by a severe lateral meniscus sprain. After being sidelined by the pain for a month and then additional frustrations each time I would go to the gym, I slowly lost the motivation to push myself in the gym or even go at all.
Well, the wallowing and self-pity party is over and I'm throwing myself in this thing completely again after having gained at least half the weight I originally lost back.
That's my story.
