Advice on what to do?

So the neighbors friends keep parking in front of my mailbox and when they aren’t parking in front of my mailbox they are parking on the side of the road next to it, in front of my house, except there isn’t a sidewalk and they are pulling far off the road into my YARD. I keep asking them to STOP PARKING THERE and they don’t listen! (They always have like 5 cars there!) So I made up a ghetto (I will buy a real one when we get paid) DO NOT PARK sign or you risk being towed and put it in MY YARD a few feet from the curb next to where a tree stump is, it’s def. in our yard. So they see me out and start SCREAMING AT me that I’ll get in trouble with the city for putting that sign up that it’s illegal. Suggestions on what now? Can I really “get in trouble?”

Call your local police and ask them what you can or can not do. I think it is illegal to block access to a mailbox in most places and many cities also have rules against parking on grass.0

Call the local police department and ask what you can do. I've had some neighbor issues with barking dogs and illegal parking. I called the local police, told them the situation and they told me what I can do. I confronted the neighbors and told them to fix the problem or I could get their dog taken away or car towed along with several different tickets/citations. Both flipped out at me saying I couldn't do anything. I told them the officer I talked to, his badge number, and direct phone number. I guess they called him and found out I was right. Never had the problem again.0

A key works real well to empty the air out of a tire without damaging anything. Coming out to 2 tires without air a couple mornings will go a long way to prevent further issues.0

My neighbors do the same thing, heck sometimes they park in my driveway without permission. Someone suggested to me that I accidentally spill a box of nails in that part of my yard. I didn't do that but I agree to call the police and see what they suggest. Tell the police you feel threatened by these people and they will act on it. I don't know what your sign says but it obviously isn't working so you could always kill these people with kindness. Act like it doesn't bother you, change your sign to "Go ahead and park here, less mowing for me" or something like that. Or you could get a vintage parking meter.
Or you could call the police everytime they park in your yard. Eventually the police will get tired of it and ticket them.
I have "accidentally" hit my neighbors car with the lawn mower several times so he now at least comes out and moves it when I mow, sometimes. I figure if he calls the police on me I'll just show them all the pictures I have, I always take pictures on my phone before I mow as to where the car is and the property line. And I do it when my neighbors are watching.
Just some of my convoluted thoughts. Good luck.0 -

Hahaha! I have a similar problem with my new neighbours parking in front of my house and blocking my driveway. They have one garage, one driveway (shared with me) and THREE CARS! They currently have $500 worth of parking tickets, and they have no intentions of paying them. I have talked to them repeatedly. They make promises, but do nothing. They even throw their cigarette butts on my grass! They have taken to parking in their garden. Srs!! I just keep calling parking enforcement to complain when they block the driveway. I have two small children, and I need access to leave my house in case of emergency - or not! Parking Enforcement is tired of me, and have asked me to contact the police to make a complaint.0 -
Ask the neighbors to stop, and politely inform them that your next step will be to contact the police. At the very least, unless there is a parking setback regulation in your area (which is rare) parking in your lawn is trespassing and property damage. Be calm, ask nicely, but let them know you have run out of patience with this un-neighborly behavior.
They'll probably ignore you, but you've tried the neighborly grown-up route. Contact the local police, explain the situation, detail the conversations you've had, and find out the parking laws in your area. Ask them to please come ticket or tow the cars if your neighbors are parking illegally. Once or twice at a few hundred bucks a pop, and the problem will go away.
If the cars are actually in your lawn, I'd request they be towed. It's FAR more expensive for the vehicle owner, and involves a great deal of hassle getting them out of impound.0 -

Fences make great neighbors, just saying! I know, money? Look on Craigslist for used fence, you can get it cheap. I live in a duplex and hate my neighbor, feel for ya!0 -

Yep. Find out what the law is then act accordingly. You don't need to have the police call in a tow truck. You can do that yourself. Had a similar problem about 10 years. Called code enforcement on the guy across the street who was illegally parking his RV in the street. Called and the City came by and towed it away.
Since I had already complained to the neighbor, he knew I was responsible, but I gave him a chance to deal with it first. There was a little tension for a while, but it passed.0 -
Yeah fencing costs to much, a couple hundred for our whole yard and we have expenses right now, I swear I won't move ANYWHERE else without a fence.
Now the problem with slashing tires (which I HAVE been tempted to do!) is it's never the same person! They always have like 5 people there and they are always (or almost always) different people! I don't know half of them! They have people in and out all day and most of the time they are new people! I don't know how so many different people can visit everyday!
They are old... and they drink alot. I have no proof but I think they do drugs, the cops have been at their house a few times. I don't know if that's the reason... but it would explain the random people.
I hardly SEE the two men that own the place, one is sick now and the other never comes out. The girl screaming at me doesn't "legally" live there and when I told her to stop her friends from parking their she said "I don't live here" even though she is there 24/7. She told me to tell the guys... who are never outside. I was uncomfortable walking inside a house with a bunch of strangers with the suspicion of drugs, so she opened the door and told him what I said. I could see him listening and he said ok.
I said thanks and walked away, but I DID NOT take down the sign. They are the "tattle" tell type, I'm expecting a cop to show up sometime this afternoon. I really don't want all this drama. I am scared of what they will do to our house, seeing as we are out days at a time in the semi. I don't trust them, but sometimes to much is to much, right?0 -
Do you know if they rent or own? If the rent, usually leases have something about how long "guests" can stay - it's usually up to seven days. If you have noticed some of them there longer for that, that is a violation of their lease.
But if they own, that doesn't apply obviously.
I would call the police and ask about it - and keep a record of your interactions with the neighbors.0 -
Pretty sure they own it.0

Google your city's ordinances regarding parking where there are no curbs and near mail boxes, once you do that if it says they cannot park there then call the city and inform them of what is going on. They should send someone out to ticket them.
I know this because I parked on of my cars in my own driveway and the back bumper was partially blocking the sidewalk that connects to my driveway and the city gave me a warning citation for being parked in my own driveway and partially blocking the sidewalk I paid for.0 -
If they are in your yard, you are well within your rights to have them towed. Next time they do it, call the police and say there is a car in your yard and you want it towed. It may not improve your relationship with your neighbors but at least you won't have a car in your yard. While the police are out you can ask them about the mailbox.
The other way to do it is to start storing something car-unfriendly in your yard. A heavy metal or concrete bench/sculpture perhaps? A very pointy yard gnome? Possibly a hand-made porcupine with real nails as spines? Maybe go the classic route with flamingos? To keep from being cliche you could make these goth flamingos, with spike mohawks and assorted piercings. The possibilities are endless.0 -

If they are doing or selling drugs, they won't want cops coming anywhere near them. If they are renting and their landlord finds out from police, they will be evicted. I suggest installing a hidden security camera outside for when you are away, and a security sign on a window, or someplace visible outside. Keep the lawn clutter free, mowed, outdoor furniture and equipment, tools, etc. well organized. And at the very least your front entrance and whatever is visible from the door clutter free and reasonably clean. When the police see a bunch of drunks living together versus a well kept person in a well kept house and lawn, they won't take long deciding who to believe.0
