First off, R.I.P. Jr Seau. I loved the way he played. His suicide sucks. But now I'm wondering, I don't do steroids, nor condone it, therefore; I don't study it. I am wondering, does steriods cause depression? I always thought it just made you muscles bigger, balls smaller and got you extra short tempered.

it has many psychological effects that have been proven and I'm wiling to bet even more that haven't.

also, I'm sure in his great career that he suffered at least a couple of concussions and when you add possible steriod use...that can't be good.

Testosterone irregularities can cause mood shifts and has been linked to depression.

Seau's suicide is indeed very sad, but I think this speaks more to concussions than steroids. Like Duerson's suicide earlier this year, a gunshot to the chest saved his brain to allow for study on the effects of multiple concussions on the brain.

If that had anything to do with his death at all, the NFL has lost a lot of credibility and the lawsuits from former players that continue to pop up will financially wreak havoc on the league.
