does anyone use a regular program of basic excercises such a press ups and situps at home, and how many times a week/reps would be sufficient?
i try to do 3 days a week, 3 sets of 20 but i struggle to get the motivation to complete them! i do kick boxing on mondays and the warm up usually involves a lot of sit ups and pressups which leaves me achey across the chest and abs for a couple of days after. i guess once a week is better than nothing but i really want to build up to being able to complete more reps

I do sit ups every morning beore and after I get on the elliptical for an hour or so. My daily number varies from 100 to 150 as some days I will use an ab weight machine or hanging leg lifts instead of just doing the sit ups. I only started this about three weeks ago (injured my elbow so am not doing any lifting at the moment) and my goal is to get to 200 per day. I usually start with 40, break for a minute, 30, break for a minute, 20. I do the rest after I run for 6 to 7 miles on the elliptical in 60 minutes. It seems to be having a real effect on my abs (if that is what I can call them LOL).

If you search onehundredpushups or situps, there are sites with programs for this.

I couldn't do that many when I started. I added a couple each day and very quickly they added up. Here is the link to 200 hundred situps if you are interested http://www.twohundredsitups.com/.

I do pushups every morning before I go to work but usually only do 1 set of about 35 right now. I will likely up it to 40 next week. I don't like crunches so I have found that planking is a good ab workout. I do my pushups on dumbells which I have found to be a little more difficult too.
