How to improve your smile while not snacking!

1. Go to dentist
2. Be told by the oh-so-sarcastic and witty assistant (as opposed to the super hot one) that your teeth have moved out of alignment
3. Promise to wear your retainers that you've hidden for years after 6 miserable years with braces and retainers
4. Be told it probably won't fit anymore
5. Prove him wrong... and have an aching face and inability to snack AT ALL.

I guess I'll be wearing these torture devices as much as possible again... but HECK NO to work.

But... on the bright side, I can't snack on anything except water!

Ouuuch! I have retainers that I have neglected for awhile too and one of my teeth moved. I know it's going to hurt really bad after I put it in!

    I feel your pain. :flowerforyou:

Think of it this way (as you alluded to above)--it's a great way to prevent in-between mindless eating! I wear retainers, too (just had my teeth straightened about a year ago) and I switched from wearing them at night to wearing them during the day. It sure has cut down on the extra noshing!!!! I consider it my "secret weapon".

Good luck to you and your aching mouth! It'll be SOOO worth it, though!! :flowerforyou:

    Cheers! :drinker:

Heyyyyy I just got braces Friday and have lost like 3 lbs haha... I also have molar buildups so my top teeth don't take off my bottom brackets....so I am having to adjust to them so eating has not been an option for me (at least food I have to chew):frown:
    Good luck!

Just popped them back in after dinner. No late-night snacking and no more S's!

Magichatter - soups! and, if they're sore, COLD stuff, maybe save some calories for frozen yogurt or Popsicles you make yourself?

    Sweet! can't wait! *rolls eyes*

I actually have the new braces...they snap close so they just take the wire out and put in a new one, I don't have rubberbands or anything around the brackets....I think these work faster? Let's hope!!

I had the new braces, too. Bottom teeth straightened in just under a year! (Top ones were fine--just needed an upper retainer.)

I found that the worst part of it was the first two weeks. After that, even when they were tightened, it wasn't so bad.

As far as eating goes, I hated bread and lettuce the worst--nothing's as gross as baked goods or lettuce leaves in the darned things!!!!

Oh really!? That's good!! I tried to wear a mouthguard tonight to play softball...it wasn't working, it made my teeth even more sore.

I'm glad that I am not the only one who has gone through this....it just brings me down when my mouth hurts anytime.... I just can't wait till the outcome:smile:

My hubby felt the same way, you will get to feeling better in a couple weeks.
He ate lots of scrambled eggs.
His retainer still keeps his snacking to a minimum.
