refurbished iphone?

What do you guys think about a refurbished 8gb iphone 4 for $50? With a discount through my contract I can get one at that price through At&t. I've always wanted to make the jump... but they're so expensive. I currently have a blackberry and while it's nice, then internet browsing's always driven me nuts and it's a year old now- only 3g. I know nothing about iphones really, other than they're pretty cool devices I've been told by friends the 4s is pointless unless you'd use siri, and I wouldn't- so I figure I could save money by getting the 4 and going with a refurbished version. Just wondering about the garauntee etc. I'll probably have to probe at&t for more info on that though. Thanks for any opinions!
