Healthy by day, party animal by night?

So, I work in a corporate office during the day. I eat light, drink nothing but water (coffee in the morning), make relatively healthy decisions. A few times a week I go to the gym after work and get a good workout in.

But then afterward, it's happy hour with friends or happy hour at home and... look out! The wine is poured or the beers are cracked. Sometimes, it's both! (Don't judge, I'm Irish  ) I'm not overweight but I'm not a hard body either. I know that if I did't consume these extra liquid calories I could be a lot trimmer but I just enjoy it too much to give it up completely. Booze is my cake.

So I'm curious, how do you guys balance your health goals with the enjoyment of "adult beverages"?

And what do you do to get motivated for the gym after a night of over indulgence?

I'm not a party animal, but my inspiration for going is the great feeling after a good work out.

I feel invigorated, and ready to go home and get some cleaning or yard work done.

And if you party, can't you drink lite beer? Or keep the drinks down to 2?

I just cut booze out during the week and allow myself to indulge on the weekends. I'm trying to limit it to Friday nights which is easier when we don't have anything going on over the weekend. Also if I know I'm going to drink to excess I'll make sure I work out extra hard or add another workout to my day to compensate.

Typically my night of over indulgence is Friday and we don't usually go to the gym on Saturdays but we will still walk the dog which while not the gym is still exercise.

Here's an idea for your happy hour because if you're like me you "need' to have a drink in your hand when you're in a social situation. If that's the case then get a seltzer water with a splash of cranberry juice. That way you have a drink in your hand but it's not booze and you won't over indulge. My husband did that when we were at a party a few weekends ago because he had to drive home and he said it worked awesome. Just a thought.

well I pretty much cut out adult beverages, except for business meetings or the occasional night cap/after dinner drink.

NOt sure how old you are, but "partying hard" by night, just doesnt do it for me anymore. I got my ya yas out in my 20's and early 30's.

I LOVE seltzer water and will often drink it with lemon and lime wedges in it. It is a great alternative. I limit my intake on week nights so I don't feel crappy at work but the weekend outings with friends sneak up on me sometimes.
