Leg cramps in kids?

Both my kids have suffered from leg cramps at around 3.5-4.5 years. we always just assumed it was growing pains, but my daughter is currently going though it and I wonder if there is anything that may be lacking in her diet that could be making them worse (we eat fairly low salt (I generally don't add salt to my food when preparing, except pasta water and its in my stock cubes) or alternatively is there something I could give her, food wise that may help reduce them, i hate how she wakes up crying from them, its awful for her! (right now I just massage the offending limb till she konks out again, but its been happening a few times per night every few nights for a while now, on and off.

Any advice????

The only thing that I know of that helps for cramps is potassium, so you could try giving her a banana every day.
