Fiber Supplements

I have been looking into fiber supplements and have noticed that most of them have only 3g fiber per serving, and not to exceed 1 serving per day. What's up with that? I am trying to get at least 25-30 g of fiber per day, and 3 grams hardly seems supplemental. Does anyone know of a good supplement? I am already eating lots of grains, high fiber cereal, tortillas, vegetables, etc...

Thanks :flowerforyou:

IMHO, if you can get all 25-30 grams of fiber in your foods, you're better off. I've been able to do so without a problem - just took some fine tuning. I have always wondered the same thing - why they can't fit more fiber into a pill. That's why I don't use them anymore. And they make them the size of a small cookie for heavens sake!

My chosen supplement is Aunt Millies 12grain Whole Wheat bread. I swear by it. Yes, its 110 calories per slice, -- because it has 6 grams of fiber each slice. I use ONE slice for a sandwich, and if I have toast for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch/dinner, using this bread, that's half my minimum of fiber for the day. Not hard to make up the other half of my fiber needs through fruits, bran, flaxseed and veggies.

Well, with what I plan on eating today I am only getting around 15 g. Some days I get more if I am eating one of my tortillas with 12 g fiber. But on days like today, I would like to have a supplement. I will look for that bread you are talking about. I will be eating a lot of tomato sandwiches this summer!

I eat All -bran cereal. There is 10 g of fibre in it. I have it with vanilla Almond breeze and it actually tastes good.

I eat LOTS of beans, whole grain bread, oatmeal and apples. I also like to have a fiber one bar in the morning, though I'm trying to cut them out lately so I can move towards getting all I need from my diet.

If you're eating a ton of fruits and veggies, it isn't that hard to get 25-30g of fiber.

I agree with the beans 1/2 cup dry will have all the fiber you need for the day at only 100-150 cals
    Also popcorn.

I love my fiber  High fibre cereals I like all bran flakes, fibre one honey clusters, guardian, oatmeal etc. Lots of fruits and veggies. I also sometimes use the clear powder that dissolves in anything, coffee, water, pour into soups or pastas. Asian pears have a high fibre content. yum.
