The highest state court in Maryland just ruled that pit bulls are so dangerous that the owners of that breed will be automatically responsible for injuries even if there’s no owner negligence involved. So now I guess you can be liable for the stupidity of another too.
Dugan says to recover damages from pit bull owners in Maryland now all you’ll need to prove is that the dog who bit is part pit bull... Now come on, Part Pitbull. How much is a part ? 1%, .01% ?
My pitbull is the sweetest, most lovable, adoring loyal dog int he world. He is great around kids, and is a big fat baby when it comes to anything bigger than a squirrel. However, my chiauauua, bites snaps, snarls, nips at any passing intruder. How can thye do this to only one type of dog just cause it was bred as a "fighting dog" (which it wasnt, it was bred originally to pull carts down mines). Rotweillers, doberman pincers, Mastiffs however, are scott free...

This BS really grinds my gears...my dog was half Pit/half ?? and she was the sweetest thing on 4 legs. ANY dog can be violent and any given time. Pits just catch a bad rap because people use them for fighting. News flash...they are NOT the only breed those twatwaffles use. How can you condemn an entire breed based on the actions of a few stupid HUMANS?!?!?!
And look @ this idiocy...euthanizing an animal that saved someone...
From the Brantford Digital Journal -
Mallon credits a stranger named Faith with keeping her alive after she passed out due to a rare heart condition on a busy road in Brantford, Ontario.
In June of this year, Kalena Mallon, 30, suffered a mini stroke because of her heart condition and suffers low blood pressure seizures.
Mallon said during a phone interview that she was walking on the side of the road near her Brantford home when she passed out. The young woman was in serious danger but none of those who saw her laying in the road came to help until one stranger risked their life.
Faith is a 10-month-old Pit Bull mixed breed puppy. She stood over Mallon as the cars zoomed by honking their horns protecting her. Mallon’s husband was at home and heard the commotion. When he saw his wife’s helpless body laying in the street with only a puppy looking out for her he ran to her aid. Once safely at home Mallon’s husband gave her medicine to revive her.
“I had never seen Faith before,” Mallon said quietly, “It was as if she appeared out of heaven.”
Faith, the name that Mallon gave her hero canine stray stayed by her side for three hours.
You’d imagine that Faith, the hero Pit Bull, would be up for a medal, or a commendation. You’d be wrong – after all, this happened in Ontario, where Pit Bulls are banned. What Faith was facing, instead, was execution.
Mallon’s husband called the SPCA’s emergency line to see if anyone was missing their pet. The SPCA informed the family that they could be facing a minimum $5000 fine and a minimum of 30 days in jail for housing a stray said Mallon. The SPCA said that they didn’t deal with strays at night and to call the police.
A policeman came to the home an hour and a half later.
“At first he was scared of Faith but then she jumped up and licked him in the face,” Mallon laughed, “After that the officer kept calling her a sweet, good dog.”
Because of the law he had to take her away. Mallon stood crying as the car holding her hero traveled down the street.
Mallon said that the SPCA is mad at her for trying to save Faith’s life.
“The SPCA is mad at me for trying to find Faith a new home. They told me that if I step on their property they will have me arrested for trespassing,” Mallon said adding that the agency claims that Faith has been aggressive with other dogs. Mallon was allowed a visit with Faith where she witnessed Faith playing with other dogs and that she was not aggressive then nor at the Mallon home on Saturday.0 -
This is a great blog I found a couple of years ago - http://www.ywgrossman.com/photoblog/?p=676
Lots of pictures of pitbulls as "baby sitters" and even symbols of America.
Sad that people don't remember that.0 -
In the 70's and 80's it was the dobermans, then it was rottweilers, and now pit bulls. I used to have one and she was a fantastic dog. The one thing i have to say about pits is that they DO require a strong hand and you're never going to be "all done" training them, so they are definitely not the ideal pet for everyone, but they sure can be great dogs!0

In a few cities in Georgia, you have to keep them in pens with secured bottoms and roofs at all times (unless in the house or on a leash, walking), have the microchipped and registered, and have $100,000 liability insurance. It's been that way for a few months now, and the other day on the news they said that so far NO ONE in the county has complied. Securing the animal is one thing, but come on...isn't one of the things that can make dogs aggressive leaving them in pens/tied up all the time, not being allowed to socialize?
My chihuahua bites more people than any of the pitts and rotts I've personally known. And if you ever talk to people that do things at others peoples houses for a living (mailmen, plumbers, phone guys, delivery guys, etc) they'll all say they keep on eye on little dogs more than the big ones. If you want to talk about aggressiveness being in a dogs nature, it's a chihuahua!0 -
Wow - Really? We adopted a jack russell mix who was VERY aggressive to my other dogs. Nobody called her violent or aggressive or evil. We just insisted that she be re-adopted into a single pet household. She was a great dog with people. If she was a pit, who knows what they would have made me to do to her0

I would have kept the dog, and then moved far away from that place.0
