Hello... I signed up last Monday. I'm really not sure how much I want to lose. I am just rolling with it and tracking my calories.

I believe my profile is public. I weighed myself today for the first time since last Monday (11 days). Out of those eleven, I "cheated" and didn't log for two whole days while camping. I also don't drink nearly enough water, some days I don't drink anything by coffee and (tea, soda, etc). How was it possible for me to have lost 8lbs in this time frame? I am using the same scale. I am a larger woman... 5'3" was 220 now 212. Is it water weight? Will I gain some of it back even if I continue to make wise choices and log daily? I'm thrilled with the loss, but skeptical. I don't notice a change in me, but an overly friendly colleague asked if I had lost weight and I was caught off guard,. Any help you could give me would be great. Thank you so much - Mary

In the beginning it's not unusual to have a big loss. Then you should taper off to about 1-2lbs a week loss.... Congrats on the 8 lbs!
  • While I would like to say you won't gain that weight back, chances are if you hydrated yourself properly you might gain it back quickly. Encourage yourself to increase your water intake. Water is the only substance you can put in your body that your body doesn't have to work to filter. Drinks with caffeine and sugar will dehydrate you and while you may see significant loss now.. over the long run you aren't doing yourself any favors. Not to mention it is dangerous to dehydrate yourself for long periods of time. If you continue to make wise choices with food and properly hydrate yourself you will see permanent, healthy weight loss. Introduce water into your diet by setting small goals through the day. For instance "I will drink 12 ounces of water for every 8 ounces of soda." Don't be discouraged if you gain a few pounds back at first, eventually you will be rewarded for making responsible choices.
