Fresh Smoothies?!?!

I'm a Mom on the GO! I have a 2 year old and a 3 year old, a nursing major/full time student, and work 30 hours a week. I DO NOT have time to cook myself a meal haha. I have found granola bars are my best friend. However, today I bought some frozen organic fruit, (my kids eat it like its candy haha). I also have a juicer, so I added some carrots, celery, strawberries and grapes into my juicer, made some juice, and then made a smoothie with the frozen berries, pineapple, yogurt and a splash of vanilla almond milk.. added my juice and made the MOST DELICIOUS SMOOTHIE EVER! It filled the entire blender, which was enough for 2-2.5 8oz glasses for me and a glass for each baby!

MY QUESTION: Is this okay to drink a ton of smoothies? I put my veggies in it, fruits, etc. and I think its a quick easy way to "eat", fill up, and continue my hectic lifestyle.

  • Honestly, I can't think of a better way to get your meals in a fast amount of time! I love making vegetable-rich smoothies with some frozen strawberries. Liquid also absorbs faster, and I feel full than if I chewed on a salad for 20 minutes. I'm all the way behind this! Haha.

Smoothies are great nutrition. I throw chopped kale in to mine! Nothing wrong with it at all. You might want to add some fat to it to make it more of a satiating meal replacer. A teaspoon of coconut oil would do the trick and has great nutritional benefits.

Yes! I have one almost daily. I use plain greek yogurt, berries, fruits, peanut/almond butter, hemp seeds, spinach, all sorts of stuff.

Yes, you could live on smoothies. I made a romaine lettuce with chia seed smoothie sweetened with hazelnut flavored stevia yesterday. It was excellent.
