In a nutshell can someone tell me what the benefits are of protein/whey shakes? I don't know if I should introduce them to my diet because in some way, I think I will be missing out on a snack/meal. Educate me please

Proteins are the basic building blocks for pretty much every cell in your body. A healthy body depends on those essential amino acids to function properly. Sufficient protein is a critical component of health.
I use a low-carb shake (GNC). It is an easy way to make sure my ratio of carbs/fat/protein is balanced for the day. I don't have to try to find some other way to work in 20-30 g of protein, which often comes along with more fat. It's also a lot quicker than cooking myself a chicken breast or scarfing a can of tuna when I'm in a rush.
Whey protein is the most quickly-absorbed by your body. Body builders seem particularly interested in rapidly-available proteins, but your body can just as easily make use of "slower" proteins from other sources like vegetables (soy, peas etc).0
