Curves, yes or no? To hydraulic or not to hydraulic?

I have been working out at Curves, both the Zumba (love it) and the Cardio Circuit Classes. I am losing weight, mostly I'm sure because I'm eating well and 'moving'.
Part of the circuit classes includes hydraulic machines.
Does anyone know if using (their) hydraulic machines is effective?
And,
because weight is not increased on the machines as you get stronger, is it true that it is the effort that it takes to increase the 'numbers completed in the allotted time' that make it a good workout?
Thanks.

I'm trying to build back some very unfortunate lean muscle loss and would like to know if the machines at Curves can do the trick?
I have free weights at home that I use for biceps and triceps and have been doing Curves Ciruit Classes and hope that their hydraulic machines are worth it. Are they?
p.s., does anyone know why Curves condones a daily 30 minute circuit when it is alway suggested never to do the same muscle group two days in a row?0
