I ALWAYS say I need to do yoga, I start, it lasts about 2 days, and I fizzle out. For those of you that do it consistently, how do you fit it into your workouts? How many days a week do you do it? Do you do it in place of cardio or strength one day or in conjunction with or... Insight, please! :)

  • I always do yoga 10 minutes before & 10 minutes after my workout, as a warm up and cool down. Since you're flexing so many muscles, it's a good idea I find.

I try to do at least ten minutes before I go to bed. Its a good stretch and helps to relax me.
Its hard to start and stick with something, so my best advice is to just set an alarm or something, 1 a day or 3 times a week, to remind you that its time. =] Good luck, and keep trying!

I have a few videos on netflix I do. Usually twice a week. I would love to be able to join a class I can't really commit to a schedule so the dvd's work for me.

When I was new to exercise, I used to wonder how people found the time to do it - basically, I had to give up something else to exercise. Same thing when I started making yoga a daily practice, I had to stop doing something else. When something becomes important to you, you find the time for that activity. I know that sounds a little catty, but I don't mean it that way at all. It's a matter of finding the right balance of activities for yourself.

A famous teacher was once talking about developing a personal practice. He said, "do one pose, everyday. After a couple of weeks, do two poses. Then three. Finding in your body what poses need to come after each other."
