Think this is better posted here instead of where it was....

After losing a lot of weight (fat and muscle), by doing straight mod- high cardio 6 times a week, and eating a very low caloric intake ~1200-1400 cals, didnt follow macros at the time, just stayed under them all. Didnt really give it much thought, i was solely concerned with staying under reccommended intake as per MFP (2lbs per/week) which is another topic for discuddion in itself. just wanted to lose weight, and knew of the consequence of burning muscle, but did not care. I was continually losing, but noticed a big drop in muscle. I never plateaued. But I knew I had to figure something out.

It was about 5 weeks ago I began to look closely at my nutrtition etc. with the input of ppl here, and some very good nutrition websites. Something i must say I have becom very, very interested in. I found my TDEE, and upped my calories accordingly, started lifting heavier (3 times/week -total body), and decreased cardio cardio (3-4days moderate). In about 5 weeks I have lost 3.5% BF and about 1.5 inches off my waist. I set my deficit for 1 lbs per week, making sure to hit my macros in protein and fat as a priority, and backfilled with some carbs. Had my Mac's set for 40carb/30prot/30fat. Since adopting this and getting nutrition inline, I have been able to increase my lifts (nothing major, but def increase), and lose a constant 1lb a week. And I know that this loss of weight is primarily Fat mass. At the same time probaly making very small Lean body mass increse, but I am not concerned atm with the latter. I also manually set my MFP to my TDEE which includes exercise. I stopped tracking it as a result, and that ended that confusion, which is another discussion in and of itself.

I guess the purpose of this post was to just let eveyone know that what people talk about around here, when it comes to TDEE, training, etc. really does hold some water in the end! Weight loss is not easy by any means... I know I was 300 lbs... But it is possible and we all can do it. Take your time, it isnt a race, there is no quick fix. Read about the Physiology and even beigger part, the behavioral aspect of weight, the more you know the more things will come into view for you, i promise.

IMHO If i could change the way I approached it i would have found out more about TDEE and started training much earlier, retaining muscle would have been key. but this is what this journey is all about, learning and growing!

Cheers all, and be your best!
