Make sure you are eating enough calories. Try to eat as much unprocessed food as possible and just keep on going!

Try to drink more water (atleast 8 glasses per day) and definitely make sure you are eating enough calories! Are you eating alot of Lean Cuisines? Most of them are high in sodium so eating alot of them and not drinking enough water can make you bloated. Don't give up, you will start to see more changes!

Can you make your diary public so people have a better idea of what's going on?

When you lose six pounds in the first week, most of it is water weight. Some of that is going to come back the following week. It's just the way it is. Don't take it as a failure. Cut yourself some slack and move forward from your current weight.

Weight fluctuates daily, like someone else said it's mostly waterweight when you see a big loss in a week or less. Keep drinking water, and try to cook homemade meals rather than lean cuisines, which are full of sodium.

Also, add more to your workouts, they seem pretty minimal right now. If you don't have one, get a HRM to see what you are actually burning.

Are you sure your getting enough calories? I know a hard thing to think you may have to eat more to lose, but it is true. I had to up my calories to 1,500. I am still working on eating back work out calories. Stay strong and take one day at a time. You can do it.

To quote another poster on these forums . .

"Weight loss happens in the kitchen, not in the gym."
    (My trainer concurs . . . weighloss is 80% diet, 20% exercise)

Exercise is important and will help in the process, but you really need to focus on your calories.
  • Without seeing your diary, based on your food descriptions, you might want to watch your salt intake. Pre-packaged foods like Lean Cusine can be extremely high in sodium, and even refined sugars/simple carbs. Try making more home-made foods and watching your salt? Also, when I first started mfp, I didn't lose weight for like 3 weeks, then I dropped 5 lbs in one week, and for the most part, have gone down since. Give your body a little adjustment time, especially if you've never really worked out or been active before now--remember you are also building muscle. Many people also suggest taking measurements--do that, or at least try to pay attention to how clothing fits, you might be getting results, just not on the scale. Hang in there!

This may sound depressing, but for me 20 minutes of cardio changes nothing. It wasn't until I really upped my cardio that the pounds started to move. What I like to do is 10 cardio sessions a week with no more than one day off. Obviously, that means several of those days have more than one workout. I also slip in weights here and there, and I'm really adding lots of protein and trying to cut out processed foods. I do Lean Cuisine for lunch some days when I don't have leftovers, but that's just a back up.

I suggest more rigourous cardio. They say you have to do 20 minutes of cardio before you get any fat-burning benefits. That means you are stopping right when the benefits are kicking in. Go for at least 30 minutes, and 45 if you can.

You're probably gaining a little lean mass. You'll bounce up and down a few pounds before starting to lose steadily, and it's because you're putting muscle on. Also, we all fluctuate in terms of weight (I can gain a pound and a half in the shower), so don't worry too much about the number as long as the general trend is downward.
