What are some foods to avoid if you are trying to dial down your sodium intake? I mean, apart from the obvious, like chips and crackers.

Cheese and a lot of bread products are super salty. Any deli/lunch meat is loaded with salt. And a lot of cereals are surprisingly high as well (including Grape Nuts which I really like....boo!). And anything pre-packaged, frozen (like frozen dinners) or from a restaurant is guaranteed to be a salt-fest.

Beef jerky. I love it. It's relatively low calorie and it's high protein, but the sodium is off the chart. I had been eating it as a low calorie option until I started looking at the sodium levels on my daily reports. It is now a special treat when I have stayed under my sodium number for the day.

Any lunch meat Ive realized has alot of Sodium which I can't stand! I usually had like turkey mustard wraps for lunch but when I started looking into not just the calories I realized how much Sodium there was in just one serving! There's also my favorite soup at my favorite fast casual restaurant that I now have to stay away from cause it's great calorie wise but not so much sodium wise. Now that I'm watching Sodium I can't believe how much sodium is in most things, and I love salt!

I know! I am the kind of girl who will take a salty snack over chocolate most days. It's so hard, because it's in everything! Why do restaurant meals have so much?
