Water Aerobics Weightloss Success Stories?

My friend and I did our first water aerobics class this morning and we really enjoyed it. We plan on doing it 3 days a week. We did moderately paced laps on top of 1 hour of aerobics. We feel we got a good workout as well as a decent burn. The ladies said we would tone and our bodies would reshape...is this true? Has anyone had true weightloss success with aerobics? Any story is appreciated!

I know I had a blast doing it! Even if there aren't any super success stories it is a good way to destress and stretch! Highly reccommend trying it once!

I lost over 70 lbs in a year via water aerobics and using mindful eating. Not only will you see weight loss, but your body shape change is amazing! I have started going again since moving and being away from it for awhile. In only 6 sessions (3 x week), I have already seen amazing improvement.

There are different instructors, good and bad, the good being the ones that really work you out. My current instructor spends the entire hour raising our heart rate and then resting it, and then raising it again. It is not a wimpy workout. So, if your instructor isn't quite as motivating, make sure you put your heart in to it and you will get a great workout.

There is something about being in the water, preferably outdoors, that reminds me of summer vacation, and then it doesn't feel like exercise at all.

Water aerobics, lap swimming and eating healthier helped my mom lose some weight. Swimming is so good for you and so much easier on our body I think. My mom has a bad back and bad knees and swimming is the only thing she can do pain free.

I just did my first water aerobics class in deep water (5'6" deep). The instructor is 83 years young and teaches 2 classes in a row several days a week. Let me tell you, compared to this the Pilates, yoga and cardio classes are a walk in the park. When I got out of the water, I felt like I weighed 1000 pounds. I haven't been able to move since. I can't wait for the next class. If there is any hope I can be as shapely as the instructor, I am in!
