Today marks my 1st week of the new way of life with as little processed carbs and sugar as possible.
Went to the gym this morning and did 40 mins of treadmill - 4.5 miles per hour with various inclination - the last 20 minutes were at level 4 incline - I am soo unfit! Followed this with 20 minutes of weights plus ab crunches. Lets see if I can slowly move up in terms of walking speed and inclination - but will need to proceed slowly to make sure that it doesnt get soo hard that I give up.

Doesn't sound much - but am happy to have burned 454 calories according to this site. After years of being sedentary, every calorie burnt at the gym is a cause to rejoice.

At 5.30 pm, I still have 470 calories left to eat if I were to stick to 1200 cals a day.

I will not be weighing myself until next Friday (8th Sept) - as of yesterday, I weigh 202 lbs.

My target weight goal is 132 lbs - so 70 lbs to go and would love to have a buddy with similar goals to work with.

Congrats on your 1 week mark hon!

You always have to push yourself to do more & make it a challenge for yourself.
    Sounds like you're doing awesome.
I can't last no more than 20 minutes on a treadmill on an incline so great for you!
Keep up the excellent work girl!

Great work on the threadmill. I used to hate the gym but now I love it. It feels so good to burn out your frustrations of the day on the treadmill or eliptical. You are doing great! I will support you in any way possible.
    Keep up the hard work

Thanks everyone, I have a feeling that I will be needing the support and you guys have been sooo great! This is not the first time that I had decided to try and lose weight and live healthy. Usually I will lose a lot of weight but after the first 3 months, I will revert to old habits, or lose the motivation, and this results in putting all the weight back on, plus some. So, I am going to try to watch out for those pitfalls and hopefully this time, my changes will be for good.

    - the plus about doing the workout yesterday was I was literally humming the whole day. Normally, by 3 pm, I would be ready to chew someone's head off at work!

I was thinking of alternating between the treadmill, stationary rowing machine and elliptical trainer - but not sure if I can keep up the rowing for more than 20 mins at a time. Will see how I get on next week.

I was dreading the weekend because it is the HARDEST part of the week to stay on the straight and narrow - when I am at home, I seem to be craving food all the time. And as I go to the office gym, I was worrying on how I was going to get my exercise (I know, I could go for a walk but the weather has been AWFUL!!) Good news is hubby decided to surprise us (darling son and I,) with a weekend away at a hotel - so I can go to the hotel gym!! And not having access to the kitchen may just help me to not snack. Good job hubby!

Will have to strategise for next weekend. Anyone has any tips for surviving weekends?

You should pack up healthy foods for eveyone and not only yourself.

Or if hubby & your son doesn't want to do that with you, ask them not to eat junk food infront of you. That's what I did when I started dieting again and I am so used to it now.

When you are having a craving, go walk around the hotel or go to the gym and drink lots of water.
You'll forget about it in no time.

Whoo hoo... went to the gym again this morning - this time, did 50 minutes on treadmill (minus 5 mins warm-up and warm-down). Then did some weights for the arms - ugh, my arms are SO flabby! Felt good to be working with weights and picturing those fat cells being under fire! - Only did 15 minutes of that though - felt guilty about leaving hubby minding our son on his own for so long.

Came back to the room and they were not there, so, continued with sit-ups and upper abdominal crunches. Sigh only managed 2 sets of 8 sit-ups, and 3 sets of 8 upper abs crunches. Winded after that and had a banana.

Lunch was difficult - I wanted so badly to eat all those nice stuff at the buffet - but had half a grilled chicken breast, half a cup of pasta with tomato sauce, big plate of green salad with some fresh tomatoes (added 6 small squares of feta - it was TOO MUCH to ask me to skip the cheese!!!)

Decided at the last minute to have half a cup of orange jello - I HAD to have some sweets and 3 big glasses of water.

Oh well - I guess I didnt do too badly.

You are right - I should have packed some healthy snacks for son at least - hubby is SO good about not snacking and he has No Sweet Tooth problem. Sigh... They have fruit baskets, so we have those to munch on if hungry. I need to be saved from the Room Service menu!
