Friends with FitBits - Opinions needed.

Friends with FitBits... if you were me and you had a Garmin Forerunner [tracks calories burned, distance, pace, etc...] would you get a fitbit? My Garmin doesn't track steps, but I'm not sure that feature is worth $100. Thoughts? Is it as super fabulous as it seems? Also - is the sleeping function accurate, because that's also intriguing.
