I just started myfitnesspal and every day I exceed my protein allotment. I am fairly active for having a desk job, I walk (briskly) 45 min a day and do strength training. Is it ok to exceed my protein?

If you're doing strength training, the protein will be used in building muscle. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

The real question is how much are you going over allotment by? Ten to twenty percent is harmless. TONS of protein is excellent for muscle building, but you have to make sure you are keeping to a diet that allows your body to safely process all that protein (I'm not an expert on such diets, but I believe it involves a lot of water, keeping up potassium and other essential minerals, and a few other things - I'm sure experts on it will airlift in shortly to help).

MFP doesn't set high protein allotment so even if you're going over, it's likely you're not hitting a number that is anywhere near damaging.

Unless you have kidney problems its fine. Just make sure you're getting all the nutrients you need from the rest of your diet- vitamins, minerals, omega 3s, fiber, etc.

MFP numbers on protein are low. You should be shooting for about 1mg / kg of body weight
