Post Partum!

Why hello there!!! I just gave birth 4 weeks ago and I'm feeling ready to start working out and toning my body. I know you are suppose to wait until you are 6 weeks pp but my body feels great. During my pregnancy I had only gained 14 lbs, which I'm already 11 lbs under pre-pregnancy weight. During my natural drug-free childbirth I had no rips or tears which could cause any delays in working out. However my stomach now looks like the elastic man from Ripleys Believe It or Not!
So my question is, what have you done, workout wise, to help tone back your stomach? How many times a week did you workout to get your body back? How long were your work outs? Were you on a certain diet?

wear a girdle girl! I wish I would have but wearing it for a few months really helps pull in your stomach. Start your Transverse abdominal exercises only don't do any regular ab exercises yet. Practice sucking in your belly button to your spine and hold it multiple times throughout the day. It sounds lame but it works.

Yeah, it's going to take some time. It's not just toning, there is all that extra skin and such that has to shrink down. I would start with some general moderate cardio (walking is a good start) and practice holding your abs tight. I have heard to make sure you are cleared by your doc before starting any real abs work to prevent damaging muscle that could still be healing; you might want to run that by your OB or midwife.

My baby is 7 months now, and I've noticed a drastic reduction in my belly pooch in the last couple of months (although, I have realized after 4 kids that it will probably never be quite like it was before babies). It does happen, but it takes some time.
