I'm considering buying one, but I want to know if it will be really worth the money. Plus, I'm not too sure about wearing a strap around my chest...isn't that uncomfortable?

You will hardly notice the chest strap if you even notice it at all. And for me, having an HRM helped me see how hard I was working out which was a huge motivator. I liked seeing how many calories I burned as well.0

It depends on what you want it for... If you want it to see calories burned, get a better handle on deficits, etc.. then it can be useful. If you want one just because everyone else has one, well then it prob. won't do much for you.
As far as the chest strap goes, it is not uncomfortable at all. I can tell you now that if you are even questioning getting one without a chest strap, then you are not ready for an HRM. Ones that don't have a chest strap are not accurate at all, and should not even be considered.0
