Plateau :(

Hi there. I have hit a plateau. I lost 15 lbs, but have put 2lbs (was 4lbs due to eating out a lot over Easter) back on. I am struggling to lose these 2lbs as well as the last 4lbs.
This means I have 5 weeks to lost 6lbs before my holiday.
I have been good the last week - some days not eating all cals and doing 2/3 hard gym classes a week; but I don't know what else I can do.
I don't look bigger, but feel it. I am starting to feel a bit de-motivated
Any tips to help me kick my *kitten*?

Plateaus mean you have to change something- you have several options- diet or exercise. Exercise wise, you could take a rest week, you could add some anaerobic training like HIIT or changing your weightlifting routine. Diet wise, you could up your calories if they've been unsustainably low, eat at maintenance for a week (the equivalent of a gym rest week for diets!), or vary your macros- lower carb, lower fat, etc. There's no prescription for plateaus, but there's a lot of options to try. Pick one and test it out, if it doesn't work for you move on to the next one. Don't be discouraged, I made sure that none of my suggestions were "lower your calories and increase your exercise" because I think that can be an incredibly discouraging idea for someone who has already been dieting and exercising. I don't know about the 5 week deadline, I can't make any guarantees, but I can say that once you shock your body out of the plateau things will go much faster.0

Thanks for all your tips... they have given me something to think about. I must admit I drink more water when I am at work and have been off for past 5 days, so that won't help much!0

i hit my plateau at 19lbs i then changed my exercise to a bit more intense cardio and raised my caloric intake. Hope this helps. The problem is everyone is different.0

I drank a LOT (think gallons) of water a week ago, and ate higher calories for a week................
I FINALLY have got through my plateau that I have resided on for a year.... so, I am SMILING and the scales have been falling since last Monday..........my trainer is happy with me too!
so, drink a LOT of water, but make sure you get your nutrients......and maybe it will help you too..........I don't eat a lot of foods that are high in sodium either ;o)
good luck...........0
