Quantified living

A co-worker started scanning barcodes with his phone before eating things. Naturally intrigued, I asked him what it was. He showed me MFP, and I decided to give it a shot. I don't see this as a diet but as quantifying my behaviour to make improvements -- just as I would track my personal finances.

I lift weights, do cardio training as well as sports three times a week, when in season. Out of season now, I want to keep my calories in check and see if I can't get a little more lean by the end of the summer (and before I turn 30).

I haven't had much problem in the past with cutting. My problem is knowing how I can level out and maintain a weight once I reach it. For me, it seems I'm either cutting or bulking, with no place in between. I think calorie tracking is definitely the way to go, and now that I have a smart phone, there are really no excuses.

I look forward to seeing how others get on with MFP.

Cheers!
