You can't really go wrong if you use the lowest possible number (1450). That way, you are consistently underestimating how many calories you're actually burning. Better to underestimate and be pleasantly surprised at weigh-in, than to over-estimate and find yourself frustrated.

why bother wearing the bodybugg if you're not going to trust what it says? One is a website estimate based on 'standard' calculations, the other is a device you are wearing that actually measures your activity throughout the day...

I've been wearing a bodymedia fit (same thing, different name) for 4 months now. My weight loss has tracked almost perfectly with the numbers/deficits shown by the BMF.

I love my bodymedia core - and I trust what it says as my TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). I eat about 300-500 calories less than that. Since I started eating like this, I've lost 15 lbs after being stuck for 2 months!

Some folks have found that eating below BMR tends to slow up their metabolism as opposed to eating above BMR and below TDEE. It's a good idea to try to figure out what the actual BMR is if plateauing might be a problem that they may run into.

Laying on the couch all day is not the same as your basal metabolic rate. BMR is the base amount just for your organs to run etc. I'm sure you were still eating, going to the bathroom and somewhat moving the day that you laid around. No use making it more complicated. Depends on why you need an exact number, but try not to make it more complicated. You have the Bugg so trust it to work as intended unless it seems to be not working.
