Lifting Equipment

I think that I've convinced DH that I won't turn into Ms. Olympia by lifting heavier. Now, I know where to get started with figuring out what to do, but no idea what equipment to invest in (I have to do this at home). Is something like this a good start? What should I look for? And ballpark estimates on prices?

That's fine for benching but it's not going to help you with squatting. I would recommend looking for what's called a "Half Rack" That with a bench and weights will give you everything you need for any exercise. If budget isn't a big issue then try going to www.ELITEFTS.Com0 -
Looks Like a good start. As the above poster stated for squats you should look for a squat rack, it is very dangerous to squat with out one.

That full rack would actually be ideal because you can stick the bench in a moveable bench in there and save on space whereas you can't do that with the particular half rack represented above. Plus having the moveable pins allows you to do different exercises as well as it can be a safety net so-to-speak.0 -
Even with DH acting as my spotter, it's a better idea to get a squat rack? The plan is for us to work on this together, each one spotting the other (although, we're admittedly new at this and may not know what we're doing).
Something like this would be better?

The picture won't come through for me so I'm not sure what it is. The picture above is a Power Rack and you can use it for Squats, Deadlifts, Shoulder Presses, Bench Presses (get an adjustable bench that you can move in and out.
Having a spotter is good but the rack itself helps you to setup properly to the bar which a spotter cannot do, at least not when the weight gets challenging.0 -

That's 'cause there is no picture with that post. I'm going to ask for one, though. Thanks a bunch for helping out with this stuff. This world is new to me.0 -

Oh, LOL. Sometimes my firewall blocks pictures on certain sites, can never tell. Go ahead and post it here if you ever get one.0
