I wouldn't go anywhere near Xylitol !!
It's a processed chemical 'food' made to look like sugar! Stay weil clear!!
Have maple syrup if you need something sweet... generally avoid ALL processed sugar substitutes!!0 -

I'm a food scientist, but it took me 10 seconds to find this on WIki.. you could have done the same.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylitol
Xylitol is a NATURALLY OCCURING ORGANIC sugar alcohol found in fruits and vegetables.
There is nothing processed or chemical about it.
OP. the wiki article mentions is about "as sweet" as sugar, with 2/3s the food energy (cals).. but it's not a "sugar" so your body processes it differently and it may have less of an effect on insulin and blood sugar levels. Just watch out in high quantities it can cause tummy issues like most sugar subs. (since it's basically fiber, and we all know what too much fiber does)0 -

All I know is if you eat too much of it you'll umm...be really loose =P0 -
I avoid it because it makes me have HORRIBLE stomachaches. I'd rather just stick with regular sugar, thanks.0

I've done more than just look on wikipedia
That is just like saying a glass of fruit juice from concentrate is the same as a piece of fruit!!
IT IS NOT!!
'Naturally occuring' doesn't mean HEALTHY!
Once they take something 'natural' they then put it through different processes adding and taking parts away!
The end product is FAR from NATURAL or HEALTHY.
If it isn't picked from a tree or grown and pulled out of the grown then it isn't 'NATURAL'0 -
I did find it on wiki. I just wanted opinions. The label says 13 calories per 5g, and NO CARBS. I'm miffed !0
