HRM Base-line calories burnt

I recently purchased a Polar FT7 and am loving it. I have a question, though.

Obviously there is a certain amount of calories that one would burn just sitting still (basic body functions like heart pumping, etc). Do the calorie counts on watches such as the Polar FT7 take this into account? Should I be subtracting some kind of "basic body function" calorie count from my calories burned to actually determine how many calories I've burned during exercise?

I normally eat back most of my exercise calories; however, I don't want to be eating back too many if the calorie count includes "base line" calories as well.

Thanks in advance.. I tried to search for this, but I didn't find any other similar questions (granted, it was also a little tricky to figure out the proper search terms...)
