I'm convinced that as women when we look in the mirror we see our flaws before we see anything else. I'm not seeing much change on the scale, so I had to start taking measurements. I've seen the change in those and I'm finally starting to see some changes when I look in the mirror, clothed. I still have issues seeing the changes if I look at myself naked, though.
Also, you see yourself every day, so you don't notice the little changes each day. People who see you less often will notice change sooner. But use other people's compliments as motivation, if they're commenting, you're obviously doing a great job! Keep up the good work! You'll see it eventually.0 -
I agree with tobirhae and also think it's because we see ourselves every day so we adjust to the small changes quickly and don't notice them like others would. If you have any old clothes, try them on and see how differently they fit on you. You may think there hasn't been a difference but I bet they're not as tight as they were or may even be a bit too loose on you now.
And start taking body measurements (hips, waist, thighs, etc) so the changes will be obvious as you get closer to goal. Sometimes the scale doesn't move much but our bodies will keep showing the loss of inches.0 -

This, to me, is the biggest factor. I've had several people (who I never told I was on a diet and I've known for years) compliment me on my weight loss. I'm wearing the same sized pants (admittedly they are less tight on me now around the belly, and I've only lost about 17 pounds this time around - a few before I started using this site), but apparently my "muffin top" is vanishing as I grow down to my actual pant size. Something I don't really notice about myself, but others see it.
I look at pictures of myself from a decade ago when I weighed 60-70 pounds more than I do today, and I'm wearing pants almost ten inches bigger, and "muffin top" was "dewlap" (where my belly do-lap over my belt and hide it). I feel a whole lot different from when I did back then, but 20-pound weight losses (while significant in many ways) just don't show up unless I compare myself to a "before" photo, because the changes are so gradual I don't notice them.0 -
i notice it in my clothes and on the scale more than i do appearance wise. i feel like i look exactly the same lol!0
